Nebraska football has been in contact with 2022 pro-style quarterback Richard Torres over the past couple of months. Now, he is scheduled for a visit. He is scheduled to visit Lincoln on June 4.
He is the 28th overall pro-style quarterback in his class, and the 88th overall player in his class from the state of Texas per the 247Sports composite rankings. He is a three-star recruit. Right now, the two colleges that appear to be most in the running to land him are Kansas State and Nebraska.
He is being recruited to Nebraska by Mario Verduzco.
What could he bring to Nebraska football?
I really am intrigued by what he could bring to the table. Measuring in at six-foot-six, 210 pounds, he is a good size for a Division I football quarterback. Furthermore, he can scramble out of the pocket really well. He is able to sense oncoming defenders very well, and that allows him to by himself enough time to throw the football.
On the subject of throwing, he has a very strong arm. Not only can he throw on the run, he can also throw in the pocket as well. This will certainly be beneficial to have him as it relates to the Nebraska football offense. The past couple of quarterbacks they have recruited have been able to do both. Torres would undoubtedly continue that trend.
Currently, the Nebraska football 2022 recruiting class is strong, even with only two commitments. The class itself ranks 13th overall in the Big Ten, and 65th overall nationally per the 247Sports Team Rankings. Nebraska football has traditionally recruited at least one quarterback in each class, and Torres would certainly fit the bill there.
I’ll be interested to see what happens with his recruitment. Nebraska football is already looking at some other quarterbacks in the class, which they traditionally do. I know that they have been recruiting Torres for a while, and I wonder if that will lead to anything in terms of him committing to Nebraska football or not.
