Nebraska Football: 2022 quarterback options now a two-man race

As most Nebraska football fans know by now, one of Nebraska’s top quarterback targets in MJ Morris picked North Carolina State. I’m not gonna bash him, because I’m very happy for him and I’m happy that he made a decision that he was comfortable with.

What Morris’s commitment does do for the 2022 Nebraska quarterback group is narrow it down. Now, Nebraska football can focus on two specific quarterbacks.

Those quarterbacks in question would be Richard Torres, who I have talked about before, and AJ Bianco. Torres is scheduled to come to Lincoln this weekend for an official visit. Bianco is coming to Lincoln the weekend of June 18.

Nebraska football makes their intentions clear

Nebraska has been more interested in Torres recently. This to me made it seem like the program had made up their mind that they were moving on from Morris. Ultimately, they did. It’s good that Nebraska has now officially sort of narrowed down what they want.

What does Bianco bring to the table?

As far as what Bianco brings to the table, he brings a variety of things. He is ranked as a three-star quarterback in the 247Sports regular rankings, and has a numerical ranking of 87. He currently has offers from Nebraska, Hawaii, and Washington State.

In some of the highlights I saw from Bianco, I really like what he brings to the table. He is the type of quarterback that Nebraska football is looking for. He has speed, as well as a strong arm, and it looks like he can run the option pretty well. Nebraska has made it clear in regards to what type of quarterback they are looking for, and he certainly fits that bill.

To me, I’d be happy with either of these quarterbacks. They fit the style of football that Nebraska football is wanting to play.  If I had to pick a quarterback, I would lean more towards Torres, but that is just based on personal preference. I like the fact that Torres has a strong arm, and it seems to be a bit stronger than Bianco’s Nevertheless, I feel like Bianco is a little bit faster.

Either way, Nebraska football would win in either of these situations. This is one of those rare cases in recruiting where losing out on one quarterback would also mean getting another pretty good quarterback. I’ll be interested to see what direction Nebraska football goes in terms of who they want.

They can’t lose with either Torres or Bianco, and having too many options in this case is a very good thing for Nebraska.
