Nebraska Football: Chase Androff commitment adds to insane TE depth

Nebraska football had a busy weekend recruiting, and Monday they landed a commitment at the tight end position. 2022 three-star tight end Chase Androff committed to the program.

Androff is the 49th overall tight end in his class, and the sixth overall player in his class from the state of Minnesota per the 247Sports Composite rankings. According to the 247Sports numerical rankings, he is an 85. That to me means he has extremely high upside for a three-star recruit.

Sean Beckton served as the primary recruiter for Androff while Mario Verduzco was the secondary recruiter.

What could he bring to Nebraska football?

Measuring in at 6-foot-6, 230 pounds, Androff is extremely fast for a player his size. In the highlights I saw, he was able to get separation from his defenders rather quickly. He almost acts more like a wide receiver than a tight end. Nebraska football has gone after explosive tight ends in the past couple of classes, and Androff would certainly fit the bill.

He also is a very good blocker. This could certainly help the Nebraska football running game, and having that versatility from a tight end would definitely help the program. He is not afraid to extend his hands and get the advantage on his man. As soon as the ball is snapped, he helps clear space and gives running backs running lanes to go through.

Looking at the 2022 Nebraska football class

Androff is the third overall in for Nebraska in the 2022 class. The class already has a solid base with linebacker Ernest Hausmann and wide receiver Victor Jones. Nebraska football now has legitimate weapons on both sides of the football for the class. I expect them to add to it as well.

Nebraska made a good impression over the weekend

In speaking to the media on Monday, Androff talked about how he is already familiar with the Nebraska campus, and how he enjoyed the organization of his visit over the weekend.

“What stood out was how well it was put together,” Androff said after his visit. “Everything was very professional and on time.”

“I’m very familiar actually,” he told 247Sports earlier this year. “My sister attended school there her freshman year of college, so I’ve been there a couple times and have seen the campus and the city already. I also went to camp there in 2019.”

The depth that the Nebraska football program is building at tight end is insane. They managed to fill several goals with this commitment. They have been getting at least one tight end over the  last couple of classes. They also managed to impress a recruit with their events over the weekend.

All in all, it has been a very productive last couple of days for Nebraska football. It makes me wonder what else is in store. We could be in line for a busy summer.
