Wide receiver depth has been a problem for Nebraska football. Over the weekend, they took steps in trying to address it. They hosted 2022 three-star wide receiver Grant Page over the weekend. His 247Sports profile lists him as an athlete. However, Nebraska football is recruiting him as a wide receiver.
In addition to Nebraska, he also has offers from the likes of Kansas State, Colorado, Colorado State, and Georgia Tech. He is being recruited to Lincoln by Matt Lubick.
The Boulder, Colo. native recorded 75 receptions for 1,285 yards and 16 touchdowns last season for Fairview High School.
Making connections with Coach Lubick
In talking with the media over the weekend, he indicated that he met with Lubick, and that he could see himself as a good fit in the Nebraska football offense.
“Coach Lubick and I watched some film and I can definitely see myself in their offense,” Page shared. “They said they like me mostly for outside receiver. You know, just a tall outside receiver who can go get those long balls and all that kind of stuff.
“Yes sir, that’s what I do. I run good routes, catch the ball, and get upfield. I was measured at 6-2 & 1/2, 190 [pounds]. They said they are taking two or three receivers in this class and they’ve already got one.”
What could he bring to Nebraska football?
When I look at what he is able to bring to the table athletically, I can certainly see where he thinks he would be a good fit in the Nebraska football offense. With his size, he can play on the outside. Once the ball is snapped, he can gain separation rather quickly, and is able to run the football well after the catch.
He would be able to fit with Nebraska for a couple of reasons. For one, it seems like they have been trying to get taller receivers in the last couple of classes. He would certainly fit in that category.
Secondly, he is able to make things happen after the catch as mentioned above. Nebraska relies on their receivers doing that quite a bit. In a wide-open offense like Nebraska wants to try to run under Lubick, his skill set fits perfectly.
Matt Lubick and the coaching staff are trying to get playmakers that fit their offense in the best way. I agree with Page in the sense that he would be a great fit for the offense. He is exactly the type of receiver that Nebraska football is trying to get. Here’s to hoping they land him.
