Following Tuesday’s Nebraska football practice, there was an update in regards to the progress of tight end Thomas Fidone has been rehabbing from an injury he suffered in spring ball. Now, he is working his way back.
Tight ends coach Sean Beckton spoke to the media, and elaborated about where the tight end is currently in his rehab process. All eyes have been on him closely, as he was the crown jewel of the 2021 Nebraska football recruiting class. With his skill set and playmaking ability, he has all the makings of a player who can spark the tight end position.
Fidone is working his way back
Right now, it is just about learning the concepts. As Beckton noted, the learning process has been a little difficult, but the tight end is getting there.
“Right now, he’s not where he needs to be as far as being able to come out and compete,” Beckton said. “But that’s why you work with him, to build him up and give him confidence.”
For Fidone, “It’s getting the signal, lining up quick and going and executing,” Beckton said. “We went through a script and a half of getting the signal and lining up quick. Just me and him. It’s getting to the line quickly and executing. It’s all got to happen really, really quick for him – and it’s really slow right now.”
The coach would not give a definitive answer as to whether Fidone would be ready for Ohio State. At this point in the season, Nebraska football should play him if healthy. They need to continue to develop players for the future. It would be wise as Fidone is thought to be a big part of the future for Nebraska football.
Time will tell if he will be ready for Ohio State. That part of the equation done does not sound promising. However, what is promising is how far Fidone has come from March, when he suffered his Torn ACL injury during spring ball. Now, it’s all about making an impact as he builds towards the future..
Hope may be on the horizon.
