Saturday’s Nebraska football loss was tough. Nebraska did play well, but ultimately the program suffered another loss, this time at the hands of the Ohio State Buckeyes. However, there were some solid individual performances as well. One of them belonged to linebacker JoJo Domann.
Domann had a really great game, recording nine tackles. In addition, he managed to record several pass breakups. He looked like he wanted to win the football game, and was not afraid to step up and make the big play when needed. You could tell that he gave every inch of energy that he had. He was a one-man wrecking crew.
Watching him was impressive. He seemed to be in the middle of every single play. He was diving to break up passes, and running to the football on a day when the Ohio State offense was not exactly at its best.
Domann has played with that same reckless abandon his entire Nebraska career. Unfortunately, he is playing hurt right now. As head coach Scott Frost noted in his press conference following the game, the coaching staff will have to make a decision about whether he will play in Nebraska’s final two games.
He’s had a heck of a Nebraska football career to this point. He has truly given his full effort every single time he stepped on the field. Saturday’s performance against a talented Ohio State team was a microcosm of what he has done during his time in Lincoln.
Hopefully, he will be able to play in the final two contests, as this would be a cruel way for him to go out. He embodies what Nebraska football is all about. If Saturday was his final game, it was a good one.
However, being the competitor that he is, I wouldn’t exactly count them out just yet. With this being his final season, I could see him trying to tough it out and suit up for the final two games. He brings that tough play style every time he steps on the field. Here’s to hoping we see him the final two contests. I would love to see him suit up a few more times.
