Nebraska Football: JoJo Domann’s Husker career comes to a close

With Nebraska football news swirling everywhere this week, we got some more on Thursday. Linebacker JoJo Domann is ending his Nebraska football career. He made the announcement on his podcast Thursday. The announcement comes following surgery on his left hand.

He played in 51 games and recorded 209 tackles. He recorded 133 solo tackles which is 11th all-time in Nebraska football history. He elected to come back for a sixth year this winter, playing for a defensive line that was filled with veterans. It was great to have him back on the field, and I’m really happy he chose to do so.

One of my favorites

Last week was really his final game as a Nebraska football player. What a way to go out. He recorded nine tackles, and really left it all out on the field. I wrote about it a little bit on Saturday, and it was really fun to watch.

I began covering the team in 2019. Domann was one of my favorite linebackers to cover. He always left it out on the field, and he had great instincts for the football. The way he played the game was extremely admirable, and he always looked like he had a fun time doing it.  It seemed like he never took a play off.

Perhaps the one game that stands out to me for him was his 12-tackle effort against Penn State last year. That was JoJo Domann at his best. He was flying all over the field and making as many plays as possible.

I’ll certainly miss him, but I’m excited to see what he can do down the road. My guess is that he will end up in the NFL, and I will certainly follow him. He has a type of play style that will fit well in the NFL. He has a fair amount of speed, and has great instincts for the football.

His athleticism is something that will serve him well in the NFL, and his good coverage abilities are also a bonus. Moreover, he represented Nebraska. He played hard, always battled, and made the most of his opportunities. He was a blue -collar player in every sense of the word.

Now, it’s time to see who can step up and be the next great linebacker for Nebraska. There are some already  in the program that I would consider candidates. Thanks for everything
