As Nebraska football continues to focus on recruiting this week, they received a commitment on Sunday. 2022 tight end/ defensive lineman Brodie Tagaloa committed to the program.
Tagaloa is a three-star tight end. He is ranked the 57th overall tight end in his class, and the 80th overall player in his class from the state of California per the 247Sports Composite rankings.
Although he is listed as a tight end, he also played on the defensive side the ball as a lineman last season.
West Coast offers
He had many West Coast offers on the table. California, Arizona State, Oregon, and Oregon State extended him offers in addition to Nebraska. He was recruited to the program by Tony Tuioti. Tagaloa is set to play in the Polynesian Bowl next month.
Defensively, I could definitely understand why Tuioti offered him. He is well-built physically. Measuring in at six-foot-four, 260 pounds, he possesses a lot of speed. In addition to his speed, he also has exceptional vision. As soon as the ball is snapped, he reads its intended target and goes up to make a play.
I could see him fitting very well on the Nebraska football defensive line. He is an athletic player who is perfect for the type of defense that Nebraska football wants to run. They seem to have really found their groove with lineman and linebackers that can move fast and are able to read and react quickly.
With this commitment, the 2022 Nebraska football recruiting class ranks No. 66 nationally and 14th overall in the Big Ten per the 247Sports Team Rankings. Although it may be considered a small class, there are some big-time playmakers in it. Nebraska football is going to go after several players in the transfer portal. I would not be too worried about this class in terms of size.
Nebraska football has been busy in the last couple of days, and Sunday was certainly not a day for rest. I will be interested to see what other movement takes place throughout the week.
