Nebraska Football: Experienced lineman Hunter Anthony set for visit

This is going to be a massive weekend for visitors, as Nebraska football will be hosting several intriguing players. One of those players is offensive tackle Hunter Anthony.

Anthony measures in at six-foot-seven, 330 pounds. As a recruit, he was the 17th overall player in the state of Oklahoma, and a three-star prospect. A member of the class of 2018, Anthony committed to Oklahoma State on March 2, 2017. He officially enrolled at Oklahoma State on January 10, 2018.

He finally got an opportunity to start in the 2020 season, but then he got hurt. Now, he is looking for a fresh start in Lincoln.

Anthony checks a lot of the boxes that Nebraska football is looking for in a lineman. For one, he has experience. Currently, the Nebraska football offense of line does not have a ton of that. Secondly, he has size. Although current lineman on the roster have size as well, his height certainly separates him above the rest. He is the type of player that could make an impact right now.

What would he be able to bring to Nebraska?

One of the things that I thought of immediately when I saw his name is how he would fit with new offensive line coach Donovan Raiola. Raiola is used to teaching that size, having been in the NFL. If Anthony can just continue to work on technique, he could be a day one starter for Nebraska. This is a year for the program where they need to put the best players on the field as soon as possible. There is no room for error.

When I look at his highlights, he was able to handle his matchups with ease. At the high school level, he was a man among boys. Nebraska football needs a type of lineman like this. If you look at all of the strong offensive lines in the Big Ten, they all have size and they are play with aggressiveness. Anthony checks both of those boxes as well.

Nebraska desperately needs some experienced depth on the line, and Anthony can provide that. I’ll be interested to see how his recruitment goes with Nebraska. This is certainly an area of need.
