Nebraska Football: Hunter Anthony fills major need for Huskers

Nebraska football started off 2022 the right way. Sunday, they landed a commitment from  offensive tackle Hunter Anthony.

This is a big get for Nebraska as Anthony has starting experience. He started in four games in 2019, and was the starting right tackle last season. His commitment gives Nebraska football additional experience on the line. For Nebraska, this is their sixth transfer portal addition to the roster.

As a recruit, he was given a three-star rating. He committed to Oklahoma State on March 2, 2017. He fielded offers from the likes of Central Arkansas, Iowa State, and Kansas.

Anthony visited Nebraska on December 10, and was part of the massive visit group that weekend.

What will he bring to Nebraska?

What is Nebraska getting in Anthony? They are getting a physically imposing lineman. I really liked what I saw in some of the film I watched. He was very aggressive in blocking for both the run and the pass. Anthony did not seem like he was dominant in one aspect or the other. He excelled at both.

Anthony is able to extend his hands and finish plays with ease. It seemed like he got the upper hand on his man most of the time. Overall, his physicality was something that stood out to me. For that reason, I think he’ll be a good fit on the Nebraska football line. Nebraska football needs somebody who can be that dominant force at the position.

Nebraska needs lineman, and they were able to get one with experience. I’m curious to see how Donovan Raiola is going to work with him and how their work together translates. In any event, he will give Nebraska stability at the position.

This is a situation where I think Nebraska’s recruiting class for this year is pretty much wrapped up. We may see one or two more additions on Signing Day, but I wouldn’t expect anything major.
