2023 visits are beginning to take place, and one of the top prospects in the state of Nebraska has made a date to visit Nebraska football. Athlete Malachi Coleman will visit Nebraska on January 22. This news was first reported by Allen Trieu of 247Sports.
Coleman is the 17th overall athlete in the 2023 class and the top player in the state of Nebraska per the 247Sports Composite Rankings.
His offer sheet consists of schools mostly in the Midwest. Kansas, Kansas State, Minnesota, and Nebraska have all extended an offer his way.
A recruiting process to watch
I wrote a little bit more in depth about him on Sunday. He is certainly a key prospect for Nebraska to watch. Specifically, I’ll be interested to see what the dynamic is in his recruitment. Will Mickey Joseph get involved, therefore bettering Coleman’s chances as a receiver? There’s a lot of different directions that Nebraska football could go in with Coleman, and it starts positionally.
If anything, I think Nebraska really has to have a strong showing during his visit. If the huskers are able to land the top in-state prospect for the class of 2023, then that certainly bodes well for them.
To be completely honest, I wouldn’t have felt good about their chances of landing Coleman even a couple of months ago. Now, the whole Joseph dynamic certainly adds an element of intrigue. Is Joseph going to be a major factor in Nebraska having the potential of landing Coleman? That is something we’ll have to see. I’ll be interested to hear about his visit. The fact that he is looking at the school is a positive at the very least.
What is going to come of this visit? That, I do not know. What I do know is that it could be a potentially big weekend for Nebraska. I will certainly be following this closely.
