Nebraska football had a visitor to the campus Monday. 2023 offensive tackle Cayden Green was in Lincoln on Monday. This was first reported by Mike Schaefer of 247Sports.
Green is the seventh overall offensive tackle in his class, and the second overall player in his class from the state of Missouri per the 247Sports Composite rankings. Right now, one 247 Sports Crystal Ball prediction has him going to Oklahoma. There are no predictions from lead experts at this time.
Green has offers on the table from Michigan, Oklahoma, Baylor, Miami, and Arkansas. Nebraska football certainly has their work cut out for them as they look to add depth on the line in future classes.
What would he be able to bring to Nebraska football? Green measures in at six-foot-five, 310 pounds. He would give the Huskers a solid lineman. One thing I noticed when watching his highlights was that he stayed square with the defender. He didn’t allow his defender to get any momentum, he was just able to extend his hands. Trying to move him off his spot was very difficult for opposing defenders.
Quite frankly, it is easy to see why so many big-time programs are interested in him.
Currently, the 2023 Nebraska football recruiting class is shaping up. With this five overall commitments, the class ranks 17th nationally and sixth overall in the Big Ten per the 247Sports Composite Rankings. The class has a mix of kids from the state of Nebraska as well as Dwight Bootle from Florida and William Watson from Springfield, Massachusetts.
It’s a fascinating to see the talent that Nebraska football is getting to at least come to campus. This marks a shift in recruiting from past years, and it may be for the better. Landing a player like Green would allow Nebraska to continue to build the offensive line, a position that they have struggled developing in recent years.
