The recruiting blitz continues for Nebraska football. Tuesday, they will host four-star cornerback Chance Rucker per a report from Mike Schaefer of 247Sports
Rucker is the 25th overall cornerback in his class, and the 39th overall player in his class from the state of Texas per the 247 sports composite rankings.
The 2023 corner has offers from the likes of Florida State, Miami, Michigan, Texas, and Texas A&M. He is a sought-after recruit.
Nebraska football has been recruiting in the state of Texas quite a bit lately. Ever since Brian Applewhite was added to the coaching staff, there has been an uptick in Texas recruiting. This certainly makes sense, as a lot of talent comes from the area.
One of the things that is immediately evident when watching his highlights is his speed. Measuring in at six-foot-one, 180 pounds, he is not the tallest corner. However, his speed allows him to play on the outside. With any pass that may get by him initially, he can compensate for it with his closing speed. In addition, he has good vision. As soon as the ball is snapped, he is able to track the football and break up a play.
Currently, the 2023 Nebraska football recruiting class ranks 17th nationally and sixth overall in the Big Ten per the 247Sports Composite Rankings. The Huskers have built a nice base to the 2023 class, and it would be reasonable to expect that to continue. With the types of kids that the program is recruiting currently, it would be reasonable to say that this class is going to grow and get better.
With Nebraska football beginning the second half of their spring practices, this is a good time for Rucker to be on campus. He will get to see what the program is all about and how all sides of the ball operate. Nebraska football has been full steam ahead in recruiting, and Rucker’s visit is an example of it.
