Nebraska football started off the week with an offer on Monday. The program extended an offer to 2023 wide receiver Beni Ngoyi.
Ngoyi is a member of the class of 2023. He is not ranked in the 247Sports composite rankings, but is a three-star prospect in the 247Sports regular rankings. He is an in-state prospect, and is the ninth overall player in the state of Nebraska.
He has an offer sheet that includes several Midwest teams. In addition to Nebraska, he has also received an offer from Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, and Minnesota.
What could he bring to Nebraska football?
Measuring in at six-foot-four, 180 pounds, he is an athletic receiver. In the highlights that I watched, one of his specialties is running after the catch. He is able to use his size to gain the upper hand on his man and run with the football once he finds open field.
That size certainly plays a role in the red zone as well. He is able to jump up and get passes. He is the type of receiver that Mickey Joseph looks for. In addition to his size, he is a deep threat. This is what Nebraska football has been recruiting at the wide receiver position ever since Joseph got to Lincoln.
Currently, the 2023 Nebraska football recruiting class ranks 24th nationally and seventh overall in the Big Ten per the 247Sports team rankings. They have been looking for in-state talent in this class. They have accumulated a good amount of it to this point. The class itself has three commitments from the state of Nebraska alone. Ngoyi would make a very talented fourth commitment for the class.
Personally, I had been waiting for the program to send him an offer for a while. It didn’t make sense to me why Nebraska had not offered him. He fits what they are looking for at wide receiver.
It will be interesting to see how Nebraska factors into his recruitment. His profile is growing.
