Former Nebraska basketball guard Bryce McGowens received an invite to the NBA Combine in Chicago later this month
The combine is set to take place from May 18-20, and it features prospects taking part in drills, five-on-five work, and other activities as well.
This could be a chance for McGowens stock to rise even more. He already earned his reputation as on the best freshman basketball players in the Big Ten last season. Now, he will have a chance to show his skills on a national level. This could be an instance where he could boost his stock before June’s draft.
He was one of the most electrifying freshman in Nebraska basketball history. He recorded 16.8 points per game, setting a Nebraska freshman record. He also set a record for points with 522. Even though he played only one season for Nebraska, he was one of the most fun players to watch in the entire country.
Personally, I think this is a very good thing for McGowens. There is no doubt he has skill. We saw it on display almost every single game. The combine will give him a chance to work on his skills and make him stand out to NBA teams. His primary strength is scoring and driving to the basket. That could work well in today’s NBA, as getting to the free throw line is an integral part of today’s game.
I’ll be interested to see where he falls in the draft when all is said and done. He has a player with obvious high upside. He still is raw, but he has the ability to be a solid player. Whoever drafts him will be getting a high-motor high-ability player.
