As recruiting heats up, Nebraska football was the beneficiary of a Crystal Ball pick on Friday afternoon. Allen Trieu of 247Sports put in a Crystal Ball for 2022 defensive lineman Taylor Lewis to Nebraska.

Lewis played junior college football at College of the Canyons. The  Chicago, Ill. native is ranked as a three-star recruit in the 247Sports JUCO rankings. He is the 16th overall JUCO  defensive lineman in his class, and the 14th overall junior college player in the state of Illinois per the 247Sports JUCO rankings.

In addition to Nebraska, he also has offers from the likes of Missouri, Akron, Alabama State, and Arkansas State.

Measuring in at six-foot-three, 195 pounds, Lewis can do a variety of things. For one, he is a good bull-rusher. He doesn’t use any fancy moves to get past the offensive line, because he does not need to. He is effective at taking advantage of his man and getting to the ball carrier. Measuring in at six-foot-three, 285 pounds, Lewis is also an effective space-filler. He can fill gaps on run plays and tackles solidly as well.

If Lewis were to commit to Nebraska football, he would be a member of the 2022 recruiting class.  The class itself ranks 12th overall nationally in terms of transfers.

Nebraska football has made it abundantly clear that they want to fill the defensive line position. There have been names flown all over the place over the past couple of days. As players take visits, we haven’t been able to get a clear picture of where the position is currently at. This Crystal Ball definitely offers more clarity.

Lewis would be a nice, experienced defensive lineman to help Nebraska fill out the position. Crystal Balls are often very accurate, so I like his chances of landing here and helping the defense.
