Nebraska basketball has undergone a lot of movement this offseason. From coaching changes to roster changes, this program has undergone a facelift. On Tuesday evening, they added a player in Emmanuel Bandoumel.
The book on Bandoumel is that he is a very solid defender. He has length, as well as experience. He measures in at six-foot-four and started 68 games for SMU over the course of his career.
Bandoumel put up decent numbers last year for SMU. He recorded 10.6 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game. He was a big score for the Mustangs, scoring in double figures in 18 games. The three-point shot was also part of his game as he shot 35.2% from behind the arc.
He was a big part of the Mustangs success, as they went 23-9 last season. They were able to reach the second round of the NIT Tournament.
Personally, I like what Nebraska basketball is doing so far. This ofseason, experience has been the focus. The program has brought in players such as Juwan Gary, and Sam Griesel.
This may also mean that Trey McGowens and Lat Mayen are no longer part of the program. Bandoumel’s signing would put Nebraska basketball two players over the scholarship limit per Brian Christopherson of 247Sports.
Nebraska basketball has done a nice job of filling in holes this offseason. Now, it needs to lead to results. There has been a ton of turnover for Nebraska basketball during Fred Hoiberg’s tenure. It really has made things difficult for the program, as they haven’t been able to get any cohesiveness as a group.
Right now, the goal is winning for Nebraska basketball. They have have not done a lot of that lately, as they enter a pivotal year for the program. As Nebraska continues to add to the roster, it will be intriguing to see how all these pieces mesh together.
