Following a successful weekend, Nebraska football was able to land a commitment from in-state offensive lineman Brock Knutson on Monday.
Knutson is the sixth overall player in the state of Nebraska per the 247Sports Composite Rankings. In addition to Nebraska, he also had offers from the likes of Kansas State, Miami (Ohio), North Dakota State, and South Dakota State.
His primary recruiter was offensive line coach Donovan Raiola, while his secondary recruiter was head coach Scott Frost.
What can he bring to Nebraska football?
Nebraska football is getting a player who is not afraid to push the pile. As soon as the ball is snapped, he extends his hands, and immediately pushes the lineman back. Knutson is not afraid to get physical, and that allows lanes to clear for running backs quickly. He does a good job of sealing off his defenders, and allowing the offensive play to develop.
He should definitely be able to make an impact on Nebraska football, especially with the loaded running back room that they will have in the coming years. Measuring in at six-foot-seven, 270 pounds, he is already quite the physical specimen. He has a chance to really develop into a solid player based on both his skill and size.
A strong 2023 class
This commitment is commitment number seven for the 2023 Nebraska football recruiting class. It is the second commitment in the last two days. This is a class that has a Nebraska flair to it, as he becomes the fourth player from the state of Nebraska for this class. The class ranks 25th overall nationally per the 247Sports Team Rankings.
As noted in a report from Sam McKewon of the Omaha World-Herald, this commitment means more to Knutson than just taking the field.
“Every since I was little, my dad has always told me, there’s something about playing football with that ‘N’ on the side of my helmet,” Knutson said. “He told me I could do that, and it’s always been a dream of mine to make that true.”
I’m excited to see what he can do and how he will be able to develop. He already has tremendous size, and now it will be about executing and continuing to grow. Nebraska has had a great start to the month of June in terms of recruiting, and I’m excited to see where the rest of this class goes.
