Nebraska football had a very busy recruiting weekend once again. Many recruits came away impressed. 2023 offensive tackle JR Sia was one of them.
Sia is ranked as the 70th overall offensive tackle in his class, and the 13th overall player in the state of Utah per the On3 consensus rankings. He has a numerical rating of 84. Currently, he has a 93.2 prediction percentage that favors Nebraska.
The predictions seem to fall in line with Sia’s feelings towards the program. As he told Blair Angulo of 247Sports on Sunday, Nebraska is at the very top of his list.
What could he bring to Nebraska football?
He would be able to bring his physical, imposing style to Nebraska football. As soon as the ball is snapped, he immediately gets to work. He immediately extends his hands and he gets beverage on his man. Footwork is a strength of his, as he is able to stand firm during his blocks. He would be a great addition for Nebraska football, especially when you look at the type of offense they want to have.
The program made a concerted effort to load up the running back room this offseason. Nebraska wants to run the football more, and bringing in sturdy offensive lineman will help them achieve that.
Sia would be a greater red zone lineman for Nebraska. I could see him as somebody that word not be afraid to finish off that extra block in the red zone. Nebraska has said they wanted to be tougher on the ground, and bringing in talented lineman helps you do that.
Currently, the 2023 Nebraska football recruiting class ranks 36 nationally and ninth in the Big Ten per the On3 rankings. The 2023 class has had an influx of commits in the past couple of days. The momentum is really starting to pick up in terms of recruiting. If they could land a lineman like Sia, that would be another major weapon for Donovan Raiola to work with.
