Nebraska football has been on fire in terms of recruiting over the last month or so. They landed wide receiver Omarion Miller early in the day on Tuesday, and followed that up with another commitment. They landed a pledge from 2023 three-star linebacker Dylan Rogers.
Rogers had offers from the likes of Colorado, Houston, Kansas, and Kansas State. Running backs coach Brian Applewhite was his primary recruiter. Linebackers coach Barrett Ruud was the secondary recruiter.
This was another big get in the state of Texas for Applewhite. He has brought a Texas flair to Nebraska ever since he joined the staff. it was also a big Tuesday for the coach. He was the secondary recruiter for Omarion Miller as well.
What can he bring to Nebraska football?
Rogers brings physical play to the Nebraska football program. He is an explosive linebacker that is not afraid to get after the running back. As soon as the ball is snapped, he is able to identify where the play is going quickly.
His explosion is perhaps one of his biggest assets. His speed combined with his explosion allows for him to be a complete player at the linebacker spot, and be involved in as many plays as possible. He is a very sound, instinctual player.
He fits exactly what Nebraska football is looking for in a linebacker. The program likes their linebackers to be versatile and fast. That style of linebacker has worked in their favor over the past couple of seasons. Rogers will fit in nicely with the program in that regard. He has all the tools for defensive coordinator Erik Chinander to really be able to get the most out of him.
The Nebraska football 2023 recruiting class continues to grow with talent. The class itself ranks 27th overall nationally per the 247Sports Team Rankings.
I’ll be interested to see how Nebraska football fills out the rest of the recruiting class. They only have a couple spots left, and they need to make them count.
