Nebraska football has been on fire in terms of recruiting, especially in the month of July. Late Tuesday night, a Crystal Ball was put in for 2023 four-star defensive lineman Cameron Lenhardt.
Lenhardt currently plays for IMG Academy, one of the country’s premier developmental programs.
A high-confidence Crystal Ball was put in for him by Mike Schaefer of 247Sports on Tuesday afternoon. With an overall score of seven, this Crystal Ball certainly is a big one, as Nebraska looks to continue to add to their 2023 class.
The Huskers have focused on the defensive side of the football in this class, and Lenhardt would certainly fit the bill. He measures in at six-foot-three, 240 pounds. He is an extremely strong rusher off the edge, and this is what Nebraska football has focused on for the 2023 class. The program itself has struggled at the edge rusher position in recent seasons. Now, they are making it a point to really go after the position and build depth.
What could he bring to Nebraska Football?
Lenhardt would be an immediate impact player due to his quickness and ability to get through opposing offensive lines. He is an athlete in every sense of the word, and he is the type of player that a defense needs in today’s game of college football. Fast defensive players are needed in order to keep up with opposing offenses. Gone are the days of lumbering linebackers and defensive lineman.
Currently, the 2023 Nebraska football recruiting class ranks 29th in the country. A commitment from Lenhardt would give them their third four-star commitment of the 2023 class. This class is full of talent, and it’s also the first one that the new staff has really been able to put together. This is certainly not a coincidence.
I like Nebraska’s chances here. Mike Dawson and Erik Chinander know what they want out of their defensive players. They want players with versatility, and they want players that can cover multiple areas of the field. Lenhardt can do both of those things. Here’s to hoping Nebraska can land him for this class.
