It was a wild day of emotions for Nebraska football as they took care of business against North Dakota by a 38-17 score. Running back Anthony Grant had himself another 100-yard game.
He carried the ball 23 times for 189 yards and two touchdowns. His 23 attempts were four more than the 19 he had against Northwestern. Grant made the most of his carries, and he also showed that he is an absolute stud.
Aside from just in his statistics, it was the way he played the game on Saturday that was eye-opening. As soon as he got the football, he immediately burst through the hole. If the hole was clogged, he used his agility to make quick cutback moves and find running lanes. He ran hard and he ran with conviction,
He also helped stabilize the Nebraska offense. The passing game was not where it needed to be on Saturday, and Grant was able to be that offensive spark for Nebraska football once again. He showed exactly why he was such a big pick up for Nebraska football in the offseason. His ability to be explosive as soon as he touched the football was an asset on Saturday.
He made the most of his opportunities averaging 8.3 yards per carry. Fatigue didn’t really seem to be an issue for him either . He was able to keep carrying the load for Nebraska football, particularly in the second half. It seemed like he turned it on as the game drew to a close. In effect, he was the closer.
If this is the Anthony Grant that Nebraska football can count on week after week, we are in for a treat. It’s been a while since Nebraska has had a running back this explosive. Devine Ozigbo was the last 1,000-yard rusher for Nebraska Football. That was in 2018.
Simply put, Grant is a stud. It’s been fun to watch him play the last two games, and I can’t wait to see him progress throughout the season.
