The time for the Nebraska football-Illinois game has been set. The October 29 contest will take place at 2:30 PM CT, as noted by the Big Ten.

Nebraska football will be looking to bounce back from an offensive battle against Purdue. They lost by a 43-37 margin.

Illinois is on the opposite end of the spectrum. They are currently 6-1 on the season, and 3-1 in the Big Ten play. Their most recent victory came against Minnesota on October 15. They won by a 26-14 margin.

This will be a test for Nebraska, as they look to keep their bowl game hopes alive. They are entering a difficult part of the schedule, as they face Illinois before taking on a November slate that includes the likes of Minnesota, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Iowa.

This breaks a little bit of a recent trend or Nebraska, as they will be playing in their first afternoon game since they took on Oklahoma on September 17. That was the last game for defensive coordinator Erik Chinander, and the first game for interim head coach Mickey Joseph.

Things have changed a bit, as Bill Busch has taken over as interim defensive coordinator. The improvement for the Nebraska football defense has been noticeable, as they did not allow any second-half points to Indiana and Rutgers. They managed to hold a stout Purdue offense to 16 points on Saturday night . Nevertheless, it was not enough for a victory.

The Nebraska-Illinois game provide some intrigue, as the Huskers will be looking to break an 18-game losing streak against ranked opponents that dates all the way back to 2016.
