Nebraska football has been busy on the recruiting trail the past couple of days, and they landed another commitment on Monday afternoon. 2023 three-star junior college edge defender Kai Wallin committed to the program.
Wallin is the fourth overall edge defender in the 2023 junior-college class, and the sixth overall player in the junior-college ranks from the state of California per the 247Sports JUCO rankings. He had 12 offers in total. Nebraska, Kansas, Oregon State, Arizona State, and Louisville were some of the teams that offered him. Defensive line coach Terrence Knighton recruited him.
Wallin took a visit to Nebraska on December 9. He is also set to take a visit to Indiana on December 17.
Wallin’s highlights are impressive. As soon as the football is snapped, he extends his arms and is able to get to the quarterback quickly. His size is definitely a major asset for him. He measures in at six-foot-six, 240 pounds. He is an edge pressure in every sense of the word.
It will be intriguing to see what role he plays in Tony White’s 3-3-5 defense. Walin has the skills and athleticism to be a linebacker type . That would certainly work in Nebraska’s favor, as his pressure abilities could be an important piece in a 3-3-5. There are many different ways that you can run this defense, and Wallin’s skills give him flexibility, and make him more than just an edge rusher.
This has been a busy couple of days for Nebraska football. They landed two commitments on Sunday, and were able to snag two more on Monday. The Nebraska football coaching staff is beginning to find momentum in recruiting, and it will be interesting to see who else the program can land. There are still several offers out on the table. Now, it’s up to the coaching staff to be able to seal the deal
