According to AAA The Auto Club Group, gas prices in Florida peaked last week, matching the highest average of 2024.
Friday’s Florida average price per gallon of $3.64 tied the state’s highest average from earlier in the year. In spite of this, the average price per gallon has now decreased marginally to $3.61, which is only 3 cents more than it was during the same time last year.
The price is still lower now than it was in the past; the peak in 2023 will be $3.85, and the peak in 2022 will be $4.89. AAA notes that there may be some respite for motorists since last week’s reduction in oil prices resulted in a 20 cent drop in gasoline futures prices per gallon.
Still, costs in some parts of Florida are still greater than in others. West Palm Beach-Boca Raton ($3.77), Naples ($3.70), and Homosassa Springs ($3.68) have the highest gas prices, while Crestview-Fort Walton Beach ($3.35), Pensacola ($3.37), and Panama City ($3.38) have the lowest prices.
