Imagining the ideal summer vacation often involves golden beaches, glistening oceans, and a lively coastal ambience. However, new information indicates that there may be more to an amazing trip than first meets the eye.

Researchers examined the 50 most populated cities in the US in a thorough study published by Forbes Advisor with the goal of identifying the top and worst places to visit in the summer. Beneath the surface allure, the investigation took into account several aspects such as driving difficulties, air travel logistics, and city amenities.

Using a strong framework with 16 different measures, the research offered a detailed assessment of every city. Of these metrics, the total city experience—which includes nine essential components—came up as the most important one.

1. The rate of crime2. Summertime median hotel rates 3. Summertime median tour and activity costs4. The average cost of a dinner for two people5. The typical amount of days with really high temperatures 6. The quantity of tourist destinations and eateries that have four or more stars on Tripadvisor7. Walking Distance8. Score for Transit

The study’s conclusions brought Jacksonville, Florida, to light as the surprising front-runner for the title of worst place to travel during the summer. Jacksonville scored a miserable perfect 100, underscoring its difficulties as a popular summer vacation destination despite its gorgeous beaches and vibrant coastal atmosphere. Its low score was influenced by elements including high crime rates, insufficient public transportation, poor walkability, and a dearth of highly rated food options.

Fresno, California; Memphis, Tennessee; Albuquerque, New Mexico; and Colorado Springs, Colorado are the other four cities in the top five worst cities for summer travel, after Jacksonville.

Nevertheless, despite the dire predictions, the report also revealed the top summer travel destinations in the US. Cities that provided a smooth combination of urban amenities, hassle-free air travel, and easily manageable roadways, such as Omaha, Nebraska; Long Beach, California; Washington, D.C.; Minneapolis, Minnesota; and Seattle, Washington, became the epitome of travel excellence.

These tips act as a compass for travelers as they prepare for their summertime travels, pointing them in the direction of places that promise amazing experiences without the usual travel hassles.
