Exciting Finale of Distinguished Young Women Competition in Beaver County

Junior high school girls in Beaver County are busy getting ready for this Saturday’s Distinguished Young Women presentation at the Sandy Reigel Theatre in Rochester.

In addition to financial awards and academic scholarships, competitors can compete for the prestigious title of Distinguished Young Woman of Pennsylvania for 2025.

The event is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. and will be accessible to anyone. $15 tickets can be bought in advance on eventbrite.com or at the door.

Five judges will assess four young ladies from various Beaver County high schools in the following categories: Scholastics, Interview, Talent, Fitness, and Self-Expression.

The Distinguished Young Woman of Beaver County winner will go on to the state competition on July 27 in Pittsburgh. She will compete there for further financial awards as well as the opportunity to represent the program in June 2025 in Mobile, Alabama at the 68th Distinguished Young Women National Finals.

Blackhawk High School students Emmarson Anderson and Aubrey Bowman, Blackhawk High School student Emily Cochran, and Beaver Area High School student Danica Purtell are among the eclectic mix of participants in the Beaver County program.

Distinguished Young Women is an initiative that was started in 1958 with the goal of empowering and assisting young women in realizing their full potential. Through the provision of scholarship possibilities and nationwide networking, the program seeks to foster self-assurance and individual development.
