Tuesday, April 23, 2024, is set aside for Pennsylvania’s primary election. This gives Republicans and Democrats the chance to participate in the nomination process by mail-in ballots or by visiting polls.
It’s crucial to remember that this is a closed primary, which means that independents and voters registered under other names are not permitted to participate—with the exception of certain situations like local ballot items.

The Pennsylvania primary polls are open from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. You may still cast a ballot if you are in line when the polls close.
Voters may be required to present identification if they are new to the precinct or are first-time voters. If not, voters will have to log in to confirm their eligibility and make sure they are in the right polling location.

Voters who send in their votes must ensure that the county elections board receives them by Tuesday at 8 p.m., when polls close. Voters now have three options because it is too late to mail in their ballots:
Give it straight to the county elections board.
Place it inside a voting drop box.
If they do not have a requested ballot, they may vote in person by turning in all voting papers, including envelopes, at their polling station using a provisional ballot.
To prevent having your vote invalidated, it is imperative that you properly follow the instructions on mail-in ballots. Remember that unless there are unique circumstances requiring a different form, you may only return your own mail-in ballot.
